If you want direct, honest opinions, ask a child. They never hesitate in telling you the truth – good or bad. Jaiden is developing his own personality and with it, comes absurd one liners that can be harsh, funny and/or ridiculous.
Jaiden has a piggy bank and receives loonies or toonies for helping around the house, or for good behavior. He loves getting cash. So much so, he proceeds to count his money over and over until we take it away. A few nights ago, he received a loonie and it was no different. He wanted to dump out his piggy bank and count his cash. When it came time for bed, we told him he had to put it away, but if he went to bed without a fuss, he could continue to count his money in the morning. Fast forward to the next morning around 6AM; Shaun’s alarm had just gone off for work. We hear our door slowly creak open and Jaiden climb onto our bed between Shaun and I. He goes to Shaun and whispers as quietly as he can in Shaun’s ear “I want my money.” No good morning, no hello, just a quiet whisper demanding his piggy bank. Of course we persuaded him to go back to bed (he usually wakes up around 8AM); I knew if he woke up then it was going to be a long day. Shaun and I couldn’t help but laugh at his funny remark.
Jaiden’s random comments make me laugh daily. Whether he is telling Nova she stinks and needs a bath, stating that Lucky (my Grandfather’s dog), called him on the phone to request spaghetti, or stating he wants to eat the goldfish that are swimming around at the pet store (he does like to eat fish, just not the pet kind). He brings a lot of laughs. From repeating things he’s heard and delivering them in funny contexts, to persuading our neighbors cat to join in on his antics. I think he is going to have a great sense of humor which is what the world needs more of – and I look forward to his daily remarks that catch me off guard and make me laugh.
